Marta Sienkiewicz   

dsc_0322Born in 1967 in Wrocław. In 1987-1993 studied at The Eugeniusz Geppert Academy of Art and Design in Wrocław. In 1993, employed in the stained glass studio at her alma mater, first as a technician, then, on receiving her MFA degree in 1997 as an Assistant Lecturer to Assistant Professor Ryszard Więckowski. In 2005, received her PhD degree. Since 1994 she has been working in the team and solo in creating stained glass as well as conserving and restoring historical stained glass pieces. She held various positions at the academy through the years, for example: the Glass Department web site journalist /for ab 6 years/, the MFA students guide /for ab 8 years/, the Erasmus Programme Coordinator formerly for Glass Department /for 8 years/ and then for Conservation Department /for 10 years/ In years 2000-2007 she run regular workshops for adults and children amateurs in glass crafts in frames of The Creative Works Centre “Światowid”, also yearly workshops in frames of the annual Lower Silesian Science Festival for over 10 years, for Children University, etc. She run numerous outreach workshops and contribute her work to the promotion of the Academy as well as art in general. She has been designing and producing stained glass on her own and since 2004 also working in the conservation and restoration of antique stained glass. Since 2007 she has headed the Stained Glass Studio at the Department of Conservation and Restoration of Ceramics & Glass including the supervision of BFA and MFA diplomas. Currently she holds the position of Assistant Professor and 2008-2012 has been the Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Ceramics and Glass. Currently based in Dunbar, East Lothian, Scotland, UK.
